The Constables of New York’s Hudson Valley

Dedicated to researching and reuniting one of the oldest and largest Constable families in the United States.

First known by the surname “Constapel,” our Constable family came to the New World from the Netherlands in the 17th century.

The Dutch Constable family in the United States now spans more than a dozen generations. Thousands of people today are descendants of Egbert Gerritsen Constapel and his wife Maria Hendricks Bond of Hurley, New York in the late 1600s and 1700s.
