FORMER ONEONTA RESIDENT
Fred Constable of Laurens Dies Thursday at Home of Relatives in Cooperstown — Funeral Saturday Morning.
Laurens, Oct. 13 — Fred Constable, a farmer residing for the past five years in the town of Laurens, died Thursday morning at 7:30 o’clock at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. George Hughes, in Cooperstown, where he was visiting. Mr. Constable had been suffering from a nervous break down for the past three years. About one month ago he suffered a shock, from which he had somewhat rallied. He was taken alarmingly ill on Saturday at the Hughes home, where he had gone for a short visit and was unconscious until death came this morning.
The deceased was a son of Benjamin and Huldah (Buell) Constable and was born in Trout Creek August 4, 1874. He was the youngest of eight children and was for 25 years a resident of Oneonta, where as elsewhere he was respected and well liked by all. He was married to Barbara Donlin of Oneonta May 27, 1910, who survives and has tenderly cared for him during his illness.
Besides the widow he is survived by three children, Ruth Hazel, Frederick and Paul, all living at home; four brothers, William of Franklin, Lemuel of Deposit, Harvey of Rock Royal, and George of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. Bennett of Franklin, and Mrs. Cora Miller, residing in Pennsylvania.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 o’clock at his late home below this village. Rev. Norman B. Graves, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, will officiate, and interment will be in Trout Creek Cemetery.
